Offensively experimental – "Dazu den Satan zwingen"

Film and Talk

The collaborative film Dazu den Satan zwingen by students at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg (University of Fine Arts) is an activist portrait of the former public prosecutor, film critic and actor Dietrich Kuhlbrodt, who sues the NDR broadcasting station. In documentary and fictional scenes, it follows his trial against a system demanding compulsory conformity and unimaginativeness. Sociopolitical, aesthetical and personal perspectives are clearly defined, developed narratively and confronted with one another. Numerous film professionals have their say. They radically oppose the practical constraints and routines of German cinema and television production, which would like to force all forms of experimental moving image culture into a niche existence. A film that parallels an incendiary leaflet!

In cooperation with the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg, Woche der Kritik and HAW Hamburg/Medientechnik.
