Since her time as a master student under Fritz Cremer at the Akademie der Künste from 1969 to 1972, Sabina Grzimek has worked as a freelance sculptor, painter, and graphic artist. Her sculptural work ranges from small sculptures and portraits to groups of figures in public spaces. In her works, Grzimek explores fundamental questions of artistic form and materiality. She approaches the figure from abstraction and builds its proportions from the inside out, leaving jagged surfaces and imperfections. Grzimek's works react intensely to the human being in our time, forced to assert themselves in the face of ideologies, increased consumerism, mass culture and climate change.
