Hito Steyerl combines physical, visual, and intellectual information in her artistic and theoretical work in a provocative and astute way. The discourse revolves around socio-political processes: In various media, the artist visualises postcolonial criticism, abuse of power and the influences of globalisation on the financial, labour, and commodity markets. She responds to the influence of a digitalised and globalised life through assembled and disassembled images, texts, performances, multimedia installations and documentary films. Steyerl's various artistic stances takes on new perspectives and, thanks to their international reception, are of lasting relevance to the current art scene.
