After A Rainbow in Curved Air and In C, the two approximately one-hour minimalist improvisations that were released on vinyl with the title Persian Surgery Dervishes in 1972 are among the most influential works by American composer Terry Riley (born in 1935). In a kind of reenactment, Sébastien Vaillancourt (keyboards) and Malte Giesen (sound direction) will perform the piece live in Berlin for the first time.
