Vita

Elnaz Seyedi was born in Tehran in 1982. She studied composition with Alireza Mashayekhi, Younghi Pagh-Paan and Jörg Birkenkötter, Günter Steinke and Caspar Johannes Walter in Tehran, Bremen, Essen and Basel. She has received awards and scholarships, including the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Scholarship in 2016 and the Bernd Alois Zimmermann Scholarship of the City of Cologne in 2017. In 2018–19, she was composer-in-residence at the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany; in 2020, composer-in-residence at the Bartels Fondation at Markgräflerhof in Basel, Switzerland; and in 2021, composer-in-residence at the Künstlerhof Schreyahn, Germany. Seyedi’s music has been performed at festivals such as the Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik, Venice Art Biennale, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and Gaudeamus Muziekweek in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
