100 Years Malik-Verlag

Exhibition

John Heartfield is recognised as a pioneer of political photomontage, whose book covers and commercial artworks for the Malik-Verlag and the Arbeiter-Illustrierte-Zeitung (AIZ) were characterised by Bertolt Brecht as “the works of a great satirist”. Since the 2010 opening of the John-Heartfield-Haus in Waldsieversdorf, the Visual Arts Archives has been showing a permanent exhibition on the life and work of the artist. To mark the centennial anniversary of the Malik-Verlag, the presentation is enhanced with documents and photographs from the archives at the Akademie der Künste, Berlin.
