John Heartfield – Photography plus Dynamite John Heartfield. The Berlin Address Book, 1950 to 1968

Book Presentation

John Heartfield’s Berlin address book (1950 to 1968) attests to his extensive private and professional network. The relationships it reflects range from friends he knew in exile, to fellow artists in East and West, to political contacts and even his veterinarian. Christine Fischer-Defoy and Michael Krejsa have been able to identify the stories behind the people. They talk about their research and present the new publication. Kirsten Block reads from letters, accompanied by a sound collage by Christian Kesten.

The event is part of the programme accompanying the exhibition “John Heartfield – Photography plus Dynamite”.

The publication John Heartfield. Das Berliner Adressbuch 1950-1968 can be ordered via email to the Akademie der Künste bookshop.
