150 years of the Verein der Berliner Künstlerinnen

Exhibition

Marking the 150th anniversary of the Verein der Berliner Künstlerinnen, a selection of archival material given to the Visual Arts Archive in 2013 is shown. It documents the history of the first German professional organisation for women artists, which came into being on 13 January 1867. The development of the association is reflected in the biographies of its 23 chairwomen – from Auguste von Mühler (1867) to Ute Countess von Hardenberg (2016). The showcase presentation also documents the history of a successful reconstruction of the archives.

Since the beginning of the year, it has been possible to research indexed data from the VdBK archival holdings here.
