Kjetil Trædal Thorsen (Snøhetta)

Lecture and Discussion

The lecture and discussion series “On the Duty and the Power of Architecture” will continue digitally this year with Kjetil Trædal Thorsen (born 1958), who is a member of the Architecture Section. He co-founded Snøhetta, a firm of architects, landscape architects, interior architects and designers, based in Oslo and New York. Creating architecture that improves the relationship between physical spaces and environments is the goal of Snøhetta‘s diverse projects, presented by Thorsen through images and plans.

His best-known building is of course the National Opera and Ballet House in Oslo (2008), which won the Mies van der Rohe Award for European Architecture. Numerous realised buildings and competition entries can be found at www.snohetta.com. The discussion is hosted by Matthias Sauerbruch, Director of the Architecture Section.
