Provenance Research Day. Where Do the Works of Art Come From?

Presentation

On the occasion of International Provenance Research Day, the Art Collection offers digital insights into its collection holdings. The focus is on selected paintings and sculptures whose eventful ownership histories were reconstructed as part of a research project funded by the German Lost Art Foundation. Where did these works of art now held by the Akademie come from? Who did they belong to before? Who sold, inherited, exchanged or gave them away? Who might they have been taken from unlawfully?
