UTOPIA. Keep on Moving Why Utopias Anymore?

Reading and Talk

Utopian social concepts play an important role in literature as a whole, especially in the work of writer Uwe Timm. His novel Icaria (2017) reflects on utopias, the attempt to realise them, their failure and their perversion. In the essay collection Der Verrückte in den Dünen (2020), Timm continues to reflect on utopias, which, despite all their failures, are indispensable in achieving the goal of ensuring that “earth can be home for everyone”.
