Luf-Passion by Volker Braun
Staged reading

Notes. An inscription.
Wednesday, 9 March 2022, Pariser Platz

The famous boat from the South Seas has found a new harbour. Intended as one of the main attractions of the newly opened Humboldt Forum, the Luf boat is at the heart of the debate on looted colonial property following the almost simultaneous publication of Götz Aly’s Das Prachtboot.

The Akademie der Künste, which has organised symposia on the subject of “colonial heritage” in recent years, is now addressing this issue entirely from an artistic, poetic perspective. Volker Braun’s dramatic poem Luf-Passion tells of the demise of an artful people and the resurrection of a beautifully crafted boat. A trophy of global exploration and “Prussian cultural property”. The poem will be premiered in a staged reading directed by Manfred Karge at the Akademie der Künste on 9 March.
In the course of the same day, the foyer of the Akademie der Künste will be “reworked” with Volker Braun’s text in the Akademie building at Pariser Platz in Notes. An inscription.

The text Luf-Passion by Volker Braun has been published in issue 1/2022 of the literature magazine Sinn und Form.
