Heinrich Mann Prize 2019. Danilo Scholz
The Heinrich Mann Prize 2019 goes to the author and scholar Danilo Scholz.
From the statement of the jury: “Danilo Scholz is an intellectual who is as knowledgeable as he is light-footed and humorous, who enriches public debate with conceptual clarity and brilliant nuances of wording. Scholz is a European spirit; […] not least his familiarity with the French scene makes him, as an intermediary and polemicist, a worthy successor to Heinrich Mann in the struggle against German provincialisms.”
Laudatory address: Adam Tooze. Mascha Schneider will read texts by Heinrich Mann.
