Günter Behnisch - an architect from Dresden 100th birthday

Lecture and Discussion

On the occasion of the 100th birthday of architect Günter Behnisch, the Architektenkammer Sachsen, the Sächsische Akademie der Künste and the Architecture Section of the Akademie der Künste, Berlin, with the support of the Ev.-Luth. Kirchspiel Dresden Süd and the Zentrum für Baukultur Sachsen and in cooperation with the St. Benno-Gymnasium Dresden, are organising a colloquium in the building of the Gymnasium (grammar school). With this, Behnisch, with very much experience in building schools and under the leadership of his son Stefan Behnisch, was able to leave behind a colourful, visible sign in his home town. In the aula of the St. Benno-Gymnasium in Dresden, experts will talk together with pupils about the work of the architect who gave democracy in Germany an architectural image. Günter Behnisch was a member of the Akademie der Künste, Berlin, and built the Akademie building at Pariser Platz together with Werner Durth until 2005.
