Exhibitions, readings, performances, concerts, workshops
From 24 to 31 May 2018, under the title "Values Verse Art", Haus für Poesie invites international poets to attend the 19th poesiefestival berlin, to examine values through the art of verse and bring them to the stage as poetry. Berlin galleries and collections are presenting their treasures of concrete, visual and sound poetry, which constitute one of the focuses of the festival. This also includes the archives of the Akademie der Künste and its studio for electro-acoustic music.
In addition to this, a "World Climate Summit of Poetry" will be held for the very first time, along with the long-running "Poetry Market" with readings and publishing house stands. Poet Elke Erb is to give this year's Berlin lecture on poetry with the title "The Poem Is What It Does". There will also be a colloquium titled "Arrière-gardes. Concrete Poetry Redux" with Eugen Gomringer. Both Erb and Gomringer are members of the Akademie der Künste.
The festival, which has been organised in cooperation with the Akademie der Künste, will open with "Weltklang – Night of Poetry", the multilingual panorama of international poetry.
With Charles Bernstein (United States), Robert Forster (Australia), Jorge Kanese (Paraguay), Katalin Ladik (Hungary/Serbia), Ketty Nivyabandi (Belgium/Burundi), Kerstin Preiwuß (Germany), Yoko Tawada (Germany/Japan) feat. Joachim Heintz (Germany), Eugeniusz Tkaczyszyn-Dycki (Poland) and Søren Ulrik Thomsen (Denmark).
