Exhibition “Broken Machines & Wild Imaginings” featuring installations by fellows of the JUNGE AKADEMIE on the topic of AI ends on Sunday, 9 July 2023

Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg

Running until Sunday, 9 July 2023 at the Akademie der Künste at Hanseatenweg, the exhibition “Broken Machines & Wild Imaginations” shows ten installations by the international fellows of the JUNGE AKADEMIE, the international artist-in-residence programme of the Akademie der Künste. The artistic research explores the topic of artificial intelligence in large-scale works, some of them interactive in nature, which make use of a wide range of media, from animation, video, computer gaming, drawing, sculpture, poster, sound/composition to textiles. The fellows reference their social, historical or political experiences, values and stories that have not (yet) or only insufficiently been addressed in the development of AI. As a response to the fragile reality of machines, they construct poetic worlds and playful concepts as well as strategies of repair.

The last two artist-led tours of the exhibition will take place on Tuesday 4 July (today) and on Thursday 4 July, at 5 pm. Peter Behrbohm and Anton Steenbock (SONDER), D’Andrade and Walla Capelobo as well as Tin Wilke and Laura Fong Prosper will guide visitors through the exhibition, and will present and discuss aspects of their work.

 With works by:
Sarah Ciston, Sara Culmann, D’Andrade & Walla Capelobo, Petja Ivanova, Pedro Oliveira, Sahej Rahal, Aarti Sunder, SONDER (Peter Behrbohm and Anton Steenbock), Natasha Tontey, Tin Wilke & Laura Fong Prosper
