Exhibition "Helga Paris, Photographer": Opening hours at the holidays

The Academy exhibition "Helga Paris, Photographer" at Pariser Platz is also open on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The exhibition will only be closed on 24 and 31 December.

Until 12 January 2020, the Akademie der Künste is presenting the most comprehensive retrospective of the photographer Helga Paris to date. The exhibition at Pariser Platz covers around 20 years of her work before and after 1989, so that continuities and recurring themes and motifs become visible. The series Leipzig Hauptbahnhof 1981/82, among others, will be on view for the first time. In quiet, precise observations of everyday life, it creates a multi-layeredimage of society. The premiere of the photo book Helga Paris. Leipzig Hauptbahnhof 1981/82, published by Spector Books, Leipzig, 2020, will take place at the finissage on 12 January. Helga Paris will also receive the Culture Prize 2019 of the Deutsche Gesellschaft der Photographie (DGPh).

An exhibition of the Akademie der Künste in cooperation with ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen). With the kind support of the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Stiftung, which enabled the cataloguing of the living legacy and the production of new prints from three previously unpublished series. The documentary film triptych by filmmaker Helke Misselwitz about the life and work of Helga Paris was made possible with funding from the DEFA Foundation and the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf.
