Today, the museum as a location of insights and critical dialogue is facing new tasks and responsibilities. Innovative approaches to communication invite interdisciplinary exchanges and experimenting, as well as creative actions and debates on social issues. Akademie President and filmmaker Jeanine Meerapfel joins Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media Monika Grütters and Kolumba Director Stefan Kraus in a dialogue on the future of museums, the Humboldt Forum as a new prototype, the challenges of digitilisation and provenance research.

The new Academy Dialogue series is dedicated to a discussion which is personal and yet, at the same time, public. In each of the events in this focused format, Jeanine Meerapfel invites one renowned figure from the arts, sciences, politics or cultural policy to enter into an intensive dialogue on a specific topic. In the final stage of the discussion, the audience is invited to contribute to this exchange on topical issues. To start the series in January this year, Wolfgang Benz, a historian specialising in prejudice research, was invited to discuss xenophobia and preconceived negative stereotypes.
