New members of the Akademie der Künste

New members of the Literature Section of the Akademie der Künste are Annett Gröschner, Teresa Präauer, Anne Weber and Uljana Wolf. They were elected at the Akademie der Künste’s Autumn General Assembly, which took place on 10 and 11 November of this year. All four have since accepted their election. Dževad Karahasan was nominated for election by the Literature Section of the Akademie der Künste, but passed away prior to his election by the plenary session of the Akademie.

The Akademie der Künste currently has 413 members in its six sections.

Brief biographies of the new members:

Annett Gröschner, author, cultural journalist, editor, performer and lecturer
Born in Magdeburg in 1964, currently resides in Berlin. Studied German language and literature in Berlin and Paris. Co-founder of various cultural journalism and interdisciplinary projects, taught in Berlin, Hildesheim, Vienna and Halle et al., held guest professorships at the Universität der Künste Berlin from 2015 to 2021 and at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 2022. Dževad Karahasan, author, dramaturge and literary scholar
Born in 1953 in Duvno, died on 19 May 2023 in Graz. After studying literature and theatre in Sarajevo and completing his doctorate at the University of Zagreb, Karahasan taught at the University of Dramatic Arts in Sarajevo. In 1993 he left the besieged city and subsequently held guest lecturer positions at various European universities, including the Siegfried Unseld Guest Professorship at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 2009. Teresa Präauer, author
Born in Linz in 1979, currently resides in Vienna. Studied German literature and fine arts in Salzburg, Berlin and Vienna. Anne Weber, author and translator
Born in Offenbach am Main in 1964, has lived in Paris since 1983. Studied French literature and comparative literature at the Sorbonne in Paris before working as author and translator for various French publishers. Since 1988 she has published her own work, which she initially writes in French or German and subsequently translates into the other respective language. Ulyana Wolf, poet, essayist and translator
Born in East Berlin in 1979, lives in Berlin. Studied German language and literature, English language and literature and cultural science in Berlin and Krakow. After initial publications in anthologies and magazines she published her first volume of poems in 2005.
