Friedrich Dieckmann published assessments by ten German writers on the Protestant ­Reformer, Martin Luther, in which he shows a special liking for the remarks of Goethe, Hegel and Heine. Friedrich Christian Delius concluded that Luther’s existential theological dilemma came about because ­Augus­tinus bribed the Roman emperor Honorius with ­­80 Numidian stallions in 418 A.D. Friedrich Schorlemmer ­refers to Luther’s achievements and his mistakes, while pointing out that every light has a dark side. Moderation of the discussion: Sebastian ­Kleinschmidt.
