Gerhard Scherer

Gerhard Scherer was born in 1961 in Theley/Saar. He studied accordion and chamber music at Trossingen University of Music, and has been living in Berlin since 1987. His work with children and young people has garnered international recognition. Since 2004, he has been a lecturer at Bremen University of Music. Gerhard Scherer performed concerts internationally. He works with outstanding ensembles such as the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin and the orchestras of the Berlin opera houses. In close cooperation with composers, Scherer has premièred more than 200 works. In recent years, he has been working more intensively as a conductor. For example, together with Jobst Liebrecht, he established the Landesjugendensemble Neue Musik Berlin des Landesmusikrats (Berlin State Youth Ensemble for New Music of the State Council for Music).
