Han Bennink

Han Bennink (*1941, Zaandam, The Netherlands) is a drummer and multi-instrumentalist; he has decisively shaped the development of Dutch and European free jazz. Bennink was already to be heard on the first FMP record, European Echoes, and formed the first important Brötzmann trio with Fred Van Hove. As a trained graphic designer, the musician also designed numerous album covers, which have been collected in the recently published HAN BENnInK catalogue. The creative influence of Han Bennink at both the musical and visual levels was recently documented by Museum Kranenburgh, Bergen, The Netherlands in a retrospective.
