Keiji Haino

Keiji Haino (*1952 in Chiba, Japan) is a multi-instrumentalist and moves between free jazz, noise and drone. Since the early 1980s, the Japanese musician, at one time inspired by Artaud's Theatre of Cruelty, has played uncompromisingly on the border of the physical kinetic energy of music. Whether as a duo with Brötzmann, as a trio with Brötzmann and Heather Leigh, or as a quartet with Brötzmann and his trio Fushitsusha, Haino always offers unique, existential experiences. In 2017, Haino released a limited-edition remaster of the 1981 album Watashi Dake? on Black Editions.
