Konrad „Conny“ Bauer

Konrad "Conny" Bauer (*1943 in Halle (Saale), Germany) studied trombone in Dresden. He is known for his polyphonic blowing techniques. From 1984, he was chairman of the jazz section of the GDR committee for entertainment arts. In 1987/88, he directed the East German Jazz Orchestra. He has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the SWR Jazz Award. His 2008 album Der gelbe Klang (The Yellow Sound) was placed on the list of bests of the German Record Critics’ Awards in the 'boundary crossings' category. In addition to his solo concerts, Conny Bauer plays in various ensembles as well as with the free opera company Novoflot.
