Eva Mattes and Irmgard Schleier tell of love and homeland, flight and exile, in their literary and musical travels through time. The émigrés let their voices be heard through songs and verses. The spectrum ranges from Heine’s Entflieh mit mir, through Kurt Weill’s Lost in the Stars, to Giovanna Marini’s Amara terra mia. Lyrical works are included by Mascha Kaléko, Jura Soyfer, Else Lasker-Schüler, Wolf Biermann, et al. Eva Mattes sings and recites; Irmgard Schleier accompanies her on piano; and Johanna Mohr provides backup with voice and oboe.
