Geh dicht dichtig

Radio Play

“Please hire me as a German deer, not for the legs, but for the rhyme”. The dialogue begins with Viennese linguistic acrobat Elfriede Gerstl arranging the ‘Denkkrümel’ (crumbs of ideas) into hidden pictures with lightning wit and enigmatic humour. The texts are playfully interwoven with song and sound in the radio play. Gerstl, born in 1932 to Jewish parents, survived in hiding. She attended school for the first time at the age of 16. She died in Vienna in 2009, where she had consistently positioned herself outside the literary establishment.
