4 April 2022

Final days
Exhibition “What Matters” – work presentation by the JUNGE AKADEMIE

Closing event on 9 April, Hanseatenweg

Films and sound works by and discussion with Sasha Kurmaz, Valentina Petrova, Mykola Rydnyi and Anna Scherbyna

The Akademie der Künste is showing "What Matters", this year's presentation of the work of the JUNGE AKADEMIE, until 10 April. In the exhibition, 25 fellows from all art sections of the Akademie are presenting sound and video installations, films, photographs, sculptures, paintings and performances.

Screenings and sound works will be featured at the closing event on 9 April. After the audio play APOLOGY by Nazanin Noori, the films NO! NO! NO! by Mykola Rydnyi and Sisters by Valentina Petrova and Anna Scherbyna and the sound work Alarming Symphony by Sasha Kurmaz can be seen and heard. Afterwards, the Ukrainian artists Mykola Rydnyi (online), Anna Scherbyna and Valentina Petrova will discuss their art practice and the impact and logic of war, as well as forms of resistance to Russian war propaganda. While Russia's rhetoric refers to a "denazification" of Ukraine, these artists show the art and activism of a democratic country where freedom of expression is possible and where different ideological groups coexist.
