Volker Braun
"Handbibliothek der Unbehausten"

Book Premiere

The new volume of verse by Volker Braun is a collection of poems written over the last ten years in addition to his prose and stage works. "Poems are the core of the work, the incidentally essential."

Braun’s poems are works of our time, lyrically engaging with and analysing the state of our civilisation, the "wildness" of society. Their subjects range from the banking crisis and the development of China and Mexico to the Gezi Park and African boat people to Tweeting and our "noiseinured century".
