Anna Seghers-Preis 2016 Yuri Herrera

Award Ceremony

Mexican novelist Yuri Herrera, born 1970, has been awarded the 2016 Anna Seghers Prize. This year’s jury member Franziska Muche, who is also giving the laudatory address, noted that Yuri Herrera “belongs to the writers courageously addressing the issues of their age. (…) Powerfully yet sensitively, he draws us into the world of his figures, with a language of his own, both highly lyrical yet resonating with street speak”. Herrera’s Mexican trilogy is published by S. Fischer Verlag as Der König, die Sonne, der Tod.
