Today, today, just not tomorrow... How is our art heritage created?
How do we preserve the lives of contemporary visual artists? Who determines—in the face of full archives and depots—what stays? And who writes the algorithms for the selection process? In this specialist event, artists will take part in discussions with representatives from academia, trade and the exhibition business. The focus will be on the ideas and needs of the artists and on asking: shouldn’t it be the artists themselves who make the selection?
The conference offers impulse statements and invites you to a discussion: Artists talk about their ideas and practices for preparing their estate for the future. Art mediators reflect on how they influence and shape the selection process. The following initiators will start and accompany the discussion with the audience:
Monika Brandmeier (Artist and Board Stiftung Kunstfonds),
Karin Sander (Artist and Director, Fine Art Section, Akademie der Künste)
