Volker Schlöndorff: The Forest Maker

Film and Talk

The Sahel in Africa has turned into a desert due to deforestation. Australian development worker and agronomist Tony Rinaudo started trial plantations 35 years ago. For a long time, the projects failed, until he made an important discovery - under the ground. In 2018, he was awarded the Alternative Nobel Prize.

Volker Schlöndorff reconstructs the stony path of a visionary and shows how ways out are possible in cooperation.
