Cécile Wajsbrot: Zerstörung

Book Release

The erasure of cultural memory, private memory and the consequences for human existence – these are the themes of Cécile Wajsbrot’s novel Zerstörung. An invisible regime has taken power in France and forces the narrator to write a “sound blog”. In it, she tells of the eradication of history, the removal of memorial plaques, the loss of public space. Cécile Wajsbrot has succeeded in creating an impressive futuristic novel that is frighteningly reminiscent of the present. Discussion with her translator Anne Weber.
