JUNGE AKADEMIE – Open Studios

Presentation

The JUNGE AKADEMIE of the Akademie der Künste, Berlin invites the public to an Open Studio event with Visual Arts and Music Fellows.

Through video, text and sketches, visual artist Alex Turgeon provides insights into his research which intersects with architecture, the poetics of space and queer theory. The work produced during his residency materialises the queer subject as a building.

Composer Elnaz Seyedi presents the piece a very close look from far away for guitar and violoncello on video, a musical interpretation of Persian writing. Furthermore, the premier of the duo version of Glasfluss for harp and percussions with musicians Clara Simarro and Richard Putz will be performed live, where the composition aims to find ways out of the massiveness of the sound.

Composer Haotian Yu presents asunder (syntagma) – a piece for bass flute (Malin Siebern) and live electronics, combining field recordings, transcription, simulation and performance practice. He will also present tang ren jie (five media assemblages) on video as an aesthetical-cultural reflection on “Chinatown”.

All live concerts will be shown twice during the Open Studios.
