Book Presentation

Alfred Kerr raised the art of the critic to a fourth genre of literature. With the incisive wit of a Heinrich Heine, he championed a literary renewal. In the Weimar Republic, Kerr, a prominent Jewish author and convinced democrat, fought the increasing power of the Nazi party. In 1933, he had to flee Germany with his family.

Book presentation with the author Deborah Vietor-Engländer, who has given a moving account of this influential theatre critic and writer, Uwe Naumann, Ulrich Matthes, moderated by Wolfgang Trautwein.
