Miriam Cahn

Miriam Cahn has been an established international artist at least since her participation in the 1984 Biennale di Venezia. Today she lives a secluded life in Bergell, Switzerland. Her pictorial worlds evoke a diffuse atmosphere in which her figures move in front of abstract-coloured picture backgrounds. For some years now (cf. documenta 14, 2017) the feminist artist has devoted herself to the theme of women and children fleeing. Her works oscillate between abstraction and figuration. Cahn's latest paintings depict naked, shadowy, contoured figures in the landscape, whose vulnerability is emphasised by the red colouring of sensitive parts of the body.
