JUNGE AKADEMIE – Open Studios

Open Studios

The JUNGE AKADEMIE of the Akademie der Künste, Berlin opens its artist studios for a day-long Open Studios in the Hansaviertel with presentations by five artists from the visual arts, music, and literature. The spacious two-story studios with a view in the Tiergarten designed by Werner Düttmann are used as exhibition spaces by the artists to show existing works as well as works-in-progress and to give insight into the panorama of their ideas and projects.

Visual artist Kristina Buch and composer Robert Logan (Visual Arts) together present both collectively and individually produced works that investigate both human and non-human language-systems. Jonas Eika (Literature) reads from his award-winning book After the Sun in which he probes the cracks of a globalized economy and their poetical possibilities. Aled Smith (Music) shows documentation of existing compositions as well as new, self-built instruments. Natasha Tontey (Human Machine) grants insights into her ongoing research on ancient technology, healing practices, and the philosophy of machines in the Minahasan cosmology in North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

The studios are open for visitors any time between 2 and 8 pm, no registration is needed. The café at the Akademie is open over the day.
